on m2:

Fnet = m2 g - T = m2 a

4.10 g - T = 4.10 a ...... (i)


On m1: T - 2.95g = 2.95 a ..... (ii)

(i) +(ii) => 4.10g - 2.95g = (4.10 + 2.95)a

a = 1.60 m/s^2


(A) T = 4.10 (g - a) = 33.6 N ......Ans


(B) a = 1.60 m/s^2 for both masses.


(C) d = v0 t + a t^2 /2

d = 0 + (1.60 x 1^2 / 2) = 0.80 m


both mass = 0.80 m
