Question
I am confident in all my answers except #6. I just need an example of #6 to compare to my own, although it may require answers from the first few problems. My work is shown below if it helps.
Problem2 R= 52 C 150 uF 12 Dielectric A parallel plate capacitor is connected to a battery and resistor as shown above. The dielectric material is removable with a thickness of 2.0 mm and the capacitance C, resistance R, and battery voltage Vs are noted above. 1. Calculate the area of the capacitor plates given a dielectrie constant of 5.0 2. Caleulate the maximum amount of enorgy stored in the capacitor 3. Calculate the maximum current flowing through the circuit. 4. Suppose the dielectric material is now removed with only air left between the plates. Calculate the new capacitance 5. Suppose the dielectric material is removed while the capacitor is fully charged and switch S is closed. Describe any changes in the circuit 6. Explain how will the removal of the dielectric material affect maximum circuit current?Explanation / Answer
Your all answers are correct.
6) Imax = V/R
V --> V is the potential diffrence across the battery
R is the resistance of the resistor.
so, clearly Imax does not depend on Capacitance in the ckt.
so, there is no effect on maximum current in the circuit.
