Get I have detail information. I did not understand it when the professor did this as a sample problem. Thank you
A rock is thrown upward from the level ground in such a way that the maximum height of its flight is equal to its horizontal range R (a) At what angle is the rock thrown? (b) In terms of its original range R, what is the range Rmax the rock can attain if it is launched at the same speed but at the optimal angle for maximum range? Rmax = (c) Would your answer to part (a) be different if the rock is thrown with the same speed on a different planet? Yes No Explain. This answer has not been graded yet. Need Help? LReadExplanation / Answer
(a) Range = maximum height
v0^2 sin(2 theta) / g = (v0 sin(theta))^2 / 2 g
2 sin(2 theta) = sin(theta))^2
2 (2 sin(theta) cos(theta) ) = sin(theta) sin(theta)
tan(theta) = 4
theta = 76 deg
(B) Rmax is at theta = 45 deg
Rmax / R = sin(2 x 45) / sin(2 x 76)
Rmax = 2.125 R
(C) answer to a is independent of initial speed v0.
hence it will remain same.
