Explanation / Answer

From the given question,

R1=13, R2=6.2,R3=7.8,R4=15, E=18 V

R2 and R4 are in series. total resistance(R5)= 6.2+15=21.2

That is in parallel with R3.

Net resistance(R6)= R3 * R5 /( R3+R5)

=(7.8*21.2)/(7.8+21.2)=5.70

This is in series with R1.

Net resistance= R1+R6=13+5.7=18.7

current= Total voltage/ total resistance= 18/18.7=0.96 A

current through R1= 0.96A

voltage drop across R1= 0.96*13=12.48 V

voltage remaining= 18-12.48=5.52 V

This voltage is applied across R3 and (R2+R4)

current through R3= 5.52/7.8=0.71A

current through R2 and R4= 5.52/(6.2+15)= 0.26A

I1,I2,I3,I4= 0.96,0.26,0.71,0.26
