as we know, electric field on the axis of a ring of charge of Q of radius r, and at a distance of x from the center is given by
E=k*Q*x/(x2+r2)3/2
and it will point along the central axis.
the sign of Q will determine whether the direction is away from the ring or towards the ring.
hence in the given question, both the direction will be along x axis.
assuming q1 and q2 , both to be positive (if any of them are negative, the negative sign with the charge will reverse the direction automatically)
then field due to left ring will be along +ve x axis and field due to right ring will be along -ve x axis.
here radius=R
distance=d/2
then field
E = [ k*q1*d / 2(R2 + (d/2)2)3/2 ] - [ k*q2*d / 2(R2 + (d/2)2)3/2 ]
E = [k*d/ 2(R2 + (d/2)2)3/2 ]*(q1 - q2)
