PLEASE HELP ASAP! IM SO CONFUSED!!!!
How do i do these parts of a whole question?
A displacement experiment similar to that done with the wooden cylinder floating in a liquid is done with different-sized cylinder. The situation is shown in the diagram at right. The liquid level L1 is measured before the cylinder is put in the beaker, and then the level is measured again, giving L2, after the cylinder is allowed to float on the liquid.
The beaker has a label attached that gives the number of milliliters volume corresponding to a 1.00 cm difference in liquid level. For this beaker,
Vol. per cm = 50.3 ml/cm.
The following levels were measured using alcohol as the liquid:
L1 = 9.8 cm
L2 = 12 cm
------------
One of the aluminum cubes used in the buoyancy experiment is used a measurement similar to that done in section 5 of the lab, with a spring scale that measures weight in newtons (N) and a beaker of liquid. The block is completely submerged when it is immersed in the liquid, as indicated in the diagram shown at right.
Imagine that a liquid different from the water or alcohol is used. This liquid has a density of 1.100 g/cm3. Calculate the following quantities. You will need to use your lab measurements for the aluminum cube.
Explanation / Answer
Rise in the liquid level,L = L2 - L1 = 12-9.8 = 2.2 cm
volume of liquid = L*(vol per cm) = 2.2*50.3 = 110.66 ml
Buoyant Force, B=110.66*0.789(g/cm3)*9.81*10-3 = 0.8565 N
Find the rise in liquid level= V (say)
then Buoyancy force is, B=V*1.1*103*9.81 = 10791*V
Scale reading, in air, Sair= mg {weight of block}
Sliq = 10791V - mg
