Question

Which of the following are true? (Choose all that apply).

Question options:

A) A conductor can be charged by touching it with an already charged object.

B) A conductor can be charged by induction without actually touching it with a charged object.

C) An insulator can be charged by touching it with an already charged object.

D) An insulator can be charged by induction without actually touching it with a charged object.

I tried A and B, and also just A (my logic was the B may only cause a seperation of charge, but not actually charge it). Both of these were wrong and I only have one more attempt! It is all or nothing so I don't know which is right or wrong.

Explanation / Answer

As, A charged insulating object is capable of transferring its charge to another object. The result of the charge transfer will be the same as the result of charging by conduction.

So, all options A) B) C) D) are correct here .
