Question

Am having trouble figuring out ATP yield of molecules. Hereare a few ?s below. Just would like to know how to figure out thefinal number step by step. Any help would be appreciated! What is net ATP yield for metabolizing each of the followingmolecules by a human leukocyte under conditions specified: One molecule of glucose in the presence of oxygen and a drugthat inhibits the enzyme phosphoglycerokinase. One molecule of PGAL in the presence of oxygen and DNP. One molecule of glucose 6-phosphate in the absense ofoxygen. Please and thanks! Am having trouble figuring out ATP yield of molecules. Explanation / Answer

actually, when one molecule of glucose is metabolised inthe presence of oxygen the net yield of ATP are 38,but asphosphoglycerokinase enzyme is being inhibited, there is noconversion of 1,3-BPG to 3PG and so on to acetyl co.A.henceonly 6 ATP's are being generated.
there is no yield of ATP's in the metabolism of PGAL in thepresence of oxygen and DNP. this is beause in the pay off phase of glycolysis ATP aregenerated starting from PGAL as this itself is being inhibitedthere is no generation of ATP. in the absence of oxygen glucose yields only 4 ATP'S of which2 are utilised in the preparatory phase one in the conversion ofglucose to fru-1,6-bisphosphate,but here as the question is whenglucose-6-phosphate is being metabolised only 1 ATP is beingused for the phosphorylation of glu-6-phosphate to fru-1,6-bisphosphate, so the net yield of ATP when glu-6-phosphate ismetabolised only 3 ATP'S are generated.
