Capsomeres can work as enzymes, proteins that catalyse sertain reactions. This gives advantages like: - less genetic material -> gives more protection ( nothing to destroy in genome that affects the viruses operation) Natural selection favours the species wich are most ressistant. -faster production when it catalyses reactions that are the limiting the production of more virus.( sertain subunit is needed to make something else). normally gene-> RNA->protein, when the protein is already made, it skips the whole prosses. basically it makes the virus reproduse more faster and it is more resistant to genetic alteration
