Question
A 2 cm tall object is located 100 cm from a spherical convex mirror having a radius of curvature of 50 cm. Describe the resultant image. A thin converging lens of focal length 10 cm is used to obtain an image that is twice as large as a small object. Find the object and image distances if the image is is to be upright. A microscope is composed of two thin lenses with focal lengths f_1 = 5 cm (the objective) and f_2 = 8 an(the eyepiece). The distance between the lenses is 37 an. A specimen is placed 6 cm from the objective, (a) Where does the final image form? (b) What is the overall lateral magnification of the image?Explanation / Answer
in case of convex mirror:
1/v + 1/u = 1/f
or, 1/v = 1/f - 1/u = 1/25 - 1/(-100)
or, v = +20.0 cm
so the image will on right side of the convex mirror
so, the resultant image
= (20/100)x2 = 0.4 cm = 4 mm
