Explanation / Answer

Intraspecific competition refers to the competition of resources between members of the same species. Refer to Lotka-Volterra equations:-

1-The predator situation depends entirely on the prey situation. Low numbers of prey affect the predator situation. When the prey situation decreases the predator situation also decreases and there comes a time when the prey and predator numbers become almost equal.

2- High number of predators causes an exponential decrease in the prey community since predators depend on prey for their survival

3- There may be the possible effects:-

(a)The growth of this particular species may decrease which may reduce interspecific competition.

(b)Increase in prey population leads to Introduction of new predator species may reduce the population of other prey species as well.
