Question

Phenotype earlobes Widow's peak no pea Little fingers bent Steaigut aHa clhed peak bent 1o Darwin's tubercle no TuBRCLE tubercle 1) How many alleles are always in a genotype for a certain trait? Why? 2) When trying to determine the genotype from the phenotype, whyisit more diffecat for dominant than recessive traits? What information might make this easier? it for the presence of various biochemical traits, such as the presence of various types of the ABO system may have be EXERCISE 2: Biochemical traits nhout this trait is that its natural selective value is much

Explanation / Answer

1) There are always 2 alleles per gene pair in a single locus of the chromosome because each alleles are derived from the gametes of the each parents it means one character(allele) from mother's egg and another character (allele) from the father's sperm. one alleles can be dominant and other will be recessive

2) It is difficult because

A = dominant/ co dominance allele

a = recessive allele

AA = Dominant

Aa= Dominant/ incomplete dominance/ co dominance

aa= recessive

so determining AA as dominat is easy but determination of Aa as purely dominant, incomplete dominant is tough while determination of the recessive as aa is also simple
