An independent blind comparison was made with a gold standard for diagnosis of genetic disease among 200 individuals a population of high-risk individuals. Among the 50 individuals found to be positive according to the gold standard, 35 individuals were poisitive for the new test. Among 150 individuals found not be be positive for the genetic disease according to the gold standard, 30 individuals were found to be positive for the new test. Which of the following is true?A. sensitivity is: (true positive)/(true positive + false negative) which is 70%, so exclude A specificity is: (true negative)/(true negative + false positive) which is 120/180 giving 80% the answer is B positive predictive value is (true positive)/(true positive + false positive) which gives 35/65 which is not 80%--further confirming answer b. furthermore, answer d would involve some serious calculus limbo which i doubt the testwriter cares to perform ;).
