W Homework 5 webassign.n 5870998 et/web/Student/Assignment-Responses/submit?dep Consider the combination of capacitors in the figure below (Let C 38.0 uF and C2 1.70 AuF.) 36.0 V 4.00 8.00 AuF (a) Find the equivalent single capacitance of the two capacitors in series. Redraw the diagram (called diagram 1) with this equivalent capacitance. Browse... No file selected. This answer has not been graded yet. Submit a file with a maximum size of 1 MB. (b) In diagram 1 find the equivalent capacitance of the three capacitors in parallel Redraw the diagram as a single battery and single capacitor in a loop. Browse... No file selected. This answer has not been graded yet. Submit a file with a maximum size of 1 MB. (c) Compute the charge on the single equivalent capacitor. a) C1 = 38 micro F
C2 = 1.7 micro F
now, for capacitors in series are added as resistors in parallel
and capacitors in parallel are added as resistors in series
a. Ceff = (1/C1 + 1/8)^-1 = 6.608 micro F
b. Ceff' = 4 + C2 + Ceff = 12.308 micro F [ because the capacitors are in parallel]
c. Charge = Q
Q = CV
Q = Ceff'*V, V = 36 V
Q = 443.088 micro C
d. VOltage is same for the two capacitors and the Ceff
so,Q on 4 micro F cap = 4*10^-6*36 = 144 micro C
Q on C2 = C2*V = 61.2 micro c
Q on Ceff = Ceff*V = 237.88 micro C
sum = 443.088 C, so yes
e. Both capacitors have same chaege, Q = 237.88 micro F
f. V = Q/C = 6.26 V
g. V = Q/C' = 29.737 V
