Explanation- Mantle plumes comes from the D'' layer i.e. 2700-2900km depth and mantle plumes are driven by the mantle convection cell. Plate tectonics are driven by the asthenospheric convection cells. Mantle plumes generlly forms the intraplate volcanism. Form of mantle plume above the surface is called as hotspot. Plumes generally forms the contnental flood basalt. These are associated with less magnitude earthquakes.
