Question
Three point charges are positioned as following: q_1^m+2 nC (0, 0), q_2^m-1 nC (3m, 0), and q_3^m-4 nC @ (0, 4m). Find the magnitude and direction of the electric force on charge q_1 due to two other charges. Find the electric potential at point P (3m, 4m) A proton (q^m+1.6 times 10^-19 C, m_p = 1.67 times 10^-27 kg) is initially at rest in a uniform electric field E = 1000V/m. By how much does its kinetic energy charge? What is the magnitude and direction of the acceleration of the proton in this field? Three resistors, R_1 = 3 Ohm, R_2 = 2 Ohm, and R_3 = 2 Ohm are connected as shown to a 10 V battery. What is the current through R_1? What is the voltage drop across R_3?Explanation / Answer
3.Three resistors has combination of series and parallel circuits. So R2 and R3 are connected in parallel.Their resultant is connected with R1 in series.
So,
1/Req=1/R2+1/R3
=1/2+1/2=1
Req =1 ohms.
Rtotal =3 + 1 =4 ohms
So total current flowing In the circuit=10/4=2.5 A
Current through R1=2.5Amp
Voltage drop across R3:
Current through R3=2.5/2=1.25Amp
V=I3*R3=1.25*2=2.5 V
