A particle moves horizontally in uniform circular motion, over a horizontal xy plane. At one instant, it moves through the point at coordinates (4.10 m, m) with a velocity of -7.20 i m/s and an acceleration of 4.40 +13.7 j m/s2. What are the (a) x and (b) y coordinates of the center of the circular path? Explanation / Answer

in uniform circular motion, acceleration is directed radially inward.

so here the point connecting (4.1,4.4) and the center is parallel to y axis

so its x coordinate=4.1 m

its y coordinate will be 4.4 + radius of the circle

as we know,acceleration=speed^2/radius

==>radius=speed^2/acceleration=7.2^2/13.7=3.784 m

then y coordinate of the center=4.4+3.784=8.184 m
