Deadline: 100% until Tuesday, April 26 at 11:00 PM Gas Containers A container contains 39 moles of Gas A and 109 moles of Gas B separated by a movable airtight divider. Gas Gas 1) Initially, we will assume that the container is cylindrical, as shown on the right. If the cylinder is 2.3 m long, how far from the left side of the cylinder will we find the equilibrium position of the divider? 0.6061 m Submit | Your submissions: 10.6061/ Computed value: 0.6061 Submitted: Monday, April 25 at 10:22 PM Feedback: Your answer has been judged correct; the exact answer is: 0.606081081081081.

Explanation / Answer

Since the tip of the cone makes an angle of 90 deg, it is an isocelese right triangle cone.

Then height of the cone is equal to radius of cone,

so,

VA/VB = 39/109 OR

VB/VA = 109/39

adding '1' on both sides, we have

[VB + VA]/VA = [109 + 39] / 39

[1/3]*pi*R2*{H/[(1/3)*pi*Ra2Ha]} = [109 + 39] / 39

Since R = H

{R/Ra}3 = 3.7949

R/Ra = 1.5598

given R = 2.3m

Ra = 2.3/1.5598 = 1.4746 m

Ra = Ha = 1.4746 m
