From these graphs we can observe the population and biomass of sea urchins. From the paper, these graphs are taken hypothesized that the presence of high density of sea otters results in the reduction of sea urchins.

Due to the presence of sea otters predators, sea urchins lives in the deeper waters where it is unfavourable for the sea otters to predates the sea urchins. But with increase in the deepness of the water the sea urchin population get decrease.

Above figures describes the population of sea urchins in the presence and absence of sea otters.

Figure (a) depicts the decrease in the population of sea urchins in the presence of sea otters.

Figure (b) describes the the increase in the biomass of sea urchins in the absence or without sea otters. Dotted line in this figure shows the largest class of sea urchin within this island.
