Question
I have a very simple question that needs answered.
I understand that if two objects have similar air resistances, regardless of their weight and if dropped at the same time from the same height, they will hit the ground at exactly the same time.
I performed this experiment and got the expected results. I want to perform the exact same experiment, except underwater. I want to drop two objects of differing masses into a container of water. I understand they will not hit the bottom at exactly the same time due to differing densities and Archimedes' Principle (also has to do with bouyancy). I NEED TO KNOW WHAT CALCULATIONS I SHOULD DO FOR MY EXPERIMENT, AND WHAT RESULTS I SHOULD RECORD WHILE PERFORMING THE EXPERIMENT.
THANK YOU SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!
Explanation / Answer
We need to calculate the time taken for the object(s) to reach to bottom of container, This would provide us the required idea whether they both reach as earlier case, but they wont.
