6. Please give me step by step solution for question 16 thank you!

After the switch has been in position A for a long time and the capacitor is fully charged, at t = 0 it is moved to position B. The current through the capacitor is I= I_0e^-t/RC, where I_0 = 1.2 A, R = 95 Ohm and C = 38 mu F. The capacitor consists of two disks, each 1 cm in diameter and separated by 0.1 cm. What is the total displacement current through the capacitor at t = 0? What is the magnetic field inside the capacitor at a distance 0.25 cm from its center, and at t = 0.6 ms?

Explanation / Answer

15) c) 1.2 A

at t = 0

I = Io*e^(-0/R*C)

= Io

= 1.2 A

16) a) 20 micro T

R*C = 95*38*10^-6 = 3.61 ms

at t = 0.6 ms

I = IO*e^(-0.6/3.61)

= 1.2*e^(-0.6/3.61)

= 1.016 A

Radius, R = d/2 = 1/2 = 0.5 cm = 0.005 m

at point r = 0.25 cm = 0.0025 m

B = mue*I*r/(2*pi*R^2)

= 4*pi*10^-7*1.016*0.0025/(2*pi*0.005^2)

= 2.03*10^-5 T

= 20.3 micro T
