Question
(a) Suppose you have just barely loosened a rusty bolt. Your mass is 68 kg and you have a wrench of length L = 48 cm placed as shown in the diagram below, and hung off the end so all your weight was applied, in the downward direction, to the end of the wrench. What is the magnitude and direction of the torque?
magnitude=_______
(b) Now suppose you had a bolt that needed to be tightened to 250 N · m. You place the wrench as shown in the diagram below, and hung off the end so all your weight was applied, in the downward direction, to the end of the wrench. What length wrench would you need to tighten the bolt completely?
L = ________
(c) Suppose you had the same wrench as in part (a), but you placed the wrench at an angle = 50° with the vertical, as shown below. How much torque is applied to the bolt?
Please explain, I would appreciate you a ton

Explanation / Answer
(a) Torque T = rxF
r is perpendicula rdistance from axis of rotaiton
L =48 cm , m =68 kg ,
w =mg =68*9.8 =666.4 N
Torque T = Lwsin(90) = 0.48*666.4*sin(90)
T = 319.872 N.m Counter clock wise direction
From righ hand rule Torque direction is counter clock wise direction
(b) w =666.4 N
T = 250 N.m
T =Lw
L = T/w = 250/666.4 = 0.375 m
L =37.5 cm
(c) T =rxF
T = Lwsin(50)= 0.48*666.4sin(50)
T= 245 N.m clock wise direction
From righ hand rule Torque direction is clock wise direction
