The island has a rocky shoreline. Numerous tide pools dot the island along the shore where the wave action is somewhat sheltered by rock outcrops. The tide pools host barnacles, abalone, sea urchins and crabs. Algae grow all around the island; however, it is quite sparse in the tide pools where the rat likes to feed, but the rats’ meal is not what you think. The current is quite strong along the rocky outcrops where the algae grow best. Fresh water is available all year.The rat has a predator that visits the island regularly.

Explanation / Answer
A) Rats have ended on this island may be due to wreakage of ships .The rats that live in the food store houses of ships some how managed to cling to the wreakage of ships and floated to the nearby islands .
b)The rats show evolutionary features ,so they must have been here since ages.
c)The evolution resulted due to environmental factors like the food,water,predator/prey reproductive sucess ans nesting areas.
