Question

Print Name Lab Section Date TA This Pre-lab is due when you come in to lab to do this experiment. Staple your work sheets to this pre-lab test. Be sure to print your name on all sheets. Find the sum p_i = p1_i + p2_i. Do this by first converting the two vectors to Cartesian form, add the components to find the Cartesian form of p_i, then finally convert p_i to polar form. Sketch this vector addition, and keep three significant figures for both your final polar components. p1_i = (545 g * cm/s, 44.0 degree)_p and p2_i = (12576 g * cm/s, 136.0 degree)_p

Explanation / Answer

P1i = 545g * ( cos( 44) i + sin( 44 j )

P2i = 12576g* ( cos( 136) i + sin ( 136) j )

put the values of cos and sin thn multiply them and add i and j componant so we got

P1 + P2 = -8654.3771 i + 9114.6124 j

   r = sqrt( 8654.3771^2 +  9114.6124^2) = 12568.787

theta = atan(  9114.6124 /  -8654.3771 ) = - 46.4837

or = 360 - 46.4837 = 313.5163 degree

so fianl asnwer = ( 12568.787 g cm/s , 313.5163 degree)
