She measures the height reached by drops moving vertically (see figure below). A drop that breaks loose from the tire on one turn rises h = 53.7 cm above the tangent point. A drop that breaks loose on the next turn rises 51.0 cm above the tangent point. The height to which the drops rise decreases because the angular speed of the wheel decreases. From this information, determine the magnitude of the average angular acceleration of the wheel. rad/s^2

Intial speed V^2 = 2gh

V^2 = 2* 9.8 * 0.537

V = 3.244 m/s

Now use angular velocity W = V/r

W = 3.244/0.419

W = 7.742 rad/sec


when it reached to 0.51 m

V2^2 = 2* 9.8 * 0.51

V2 = 3.16 m/s


again W2 = V/R = 3.16/0.419

W2 = 7.54 rad/s

now use W^2 - Wi^2 = 2 A S

A = angular accleration = (7.742^2 -7.54^2)/ (2 * 2*3.14)
