Question
A rectangular circuit is moved at a constant velocity of v = 3.05 m/s into, through, and then out of a uniform 1.50 T magnetic field, as shown in (Figure 1) . The magnetic field region is considerably wider than 50.0 cm . Assume that R = 11.5 . Part B Find the magnitude of the current induced in the circuit as it is going into the magnetic field. Express your answer in amperes to three significant figures. Part C Find the magnitude of the current induced in the circuit as it is totally within the magnetic field but still moving. Part D Find the magnitude of the current induced in the circuit as it is moving out of the field
Explanation / Answer
v = 3.05 m/s , B =1.5 T , l = 75 cm , w = 50 cm, R = 11.5
Part B: Induced emf e = Bvl = 1.5*4.05*0.75 = 3.43 V
From ohms law V =iR
induced current i = V/R = 3.43/ 11.5 = 0.298 A
Part C:
When the circuit is totally within it there is no change in magnetic flux. The induced current is zero
Part D:
emf e = Bvl = .5*4.05*0.75 = 3.43 V
induced current i = V/R = 3.43/ 11.5 = 0.298 A
