okay in one of my physics lab they asked me this
From the maximum height values, you should be able to calculate the maximum potential energy per unit mass (U/m) of the ball in the middle of each interval. From the principle of conservation of mechanical energy this should be equal to the total mechanical energy per unit mass (E/m) of the ball during an interval of free flight. Determine the amount of mechanical energy (per unit mass) that the ball loses during three selected impacts with the ground From the maximum height values, you should be able to calculate the maximum potential energy per unit mass (U/m) of the ball in the middle of each interval. Explanation / Answer
let you are thowing a ball in upward direction what will hapen -
initially ball at zero height so what is potential energy
potential energy= mgh
where m is mass of ball , g is garvity , h is height of oibject from earth
so at ground height is zero so potentail energy is zero and this is the minimum value
now at lowest point Kinetic energy which is a form of mechnical energy is max
so as we move in upward direction kinetic energy start decreasing and potential energy start decreasing
so at top most point K.E. will be zero and P.E. will be max
and at they middle of journey K.E= P.E
K.E is kinteic energy, P.E - potentail energy
