As you wander around the field, you notice that at certain locations, the sound you hear is surprisingly loud, while at others it seems unusually quiet. You conclude that you are observing the effects of interference between the two sources of sound waves. For each of the locations given below, indicate what sort of interference would occur at that point.

Explanation / Answer

Constructive interference occurs in all the “bright” spots in the pattern, in every
place where the difference in distance from the two speakers is an integral number of
wavelengths. In equations, there will be construtive interference if d = n, where n =
1, 2, 3, ...
At the locations of loud and clear sound, it is the result of Constructive interference
If the distance from listener to speakers is different by exactly half of a wavelength, the
sound cancels out at this point (destructive interference)

So,
16m from one speaker and 24 m from other - Constructive , since 24-16 = 4n => n =2

8m from each speaker - In between

13m from one speaker and 19 m from other - Destructive
