Question
A) Show the calculation to compute the time required for the ball to free fall from the height of the table top of the top of the stacked tables or a bookshelf shelf to the floor.
B) Show the calculation to compute the horizontal displacement of the ball from the launching end of the ramp to the point on the floor at the initial impact of the ball.
equations you can use:
Vertical cal Time Laun Time Average InitialHorizontal Hit or Miss Procedure Displacement Launch SpeedDisplacement (nx) (m/s) (nx) Part II 0.98 Table 2Explanation / Answer
(a) Let us say the height of the table is "S"
Now initial velocity in the veritcal direction would be Zero.
Therefore applying equation of motion
S= ut + 0.5at2 where u is the initial velocity , a is acceleration and t is time
a = g , u = 0
S = 0.5gt2
t = (2S/g)1/2
(b) Now the time taken of the motion is t
and since there is no acceleration in the horizontal direction
therefore the distance covered in the horizontal direction = Speed*time
Say the inital velocity in the horizontal direction is V
therefore Distance covered in the horizontal direction = V*t
