Question
A battery has an emf E and an internal resistance r. When the battery is connected to a 20 ??resistor, the current through the battery is 0.65 A . When the battery is connected to 60 ?? resistor, the current is 0.50 A .
Item 16 Part A A battery has an emf & and an internal resistance T. When the battery is connected to a 20- resistor, the current through the battery is 0.65 A When the battery is connected to 60- resistor, the current is 0.50 A Find the battery's emf Express your answer using two significant figures 0 Submit My Answers Give Up Part B Find the battery's internal resistance. Express your answer using two significant figures. Submit My Answers Give UpExplanation / Answer
Here ,
when the battery is connected to 20 Ohm
E = i(r + R )
E = 0.65 *(20 + r) ----(1)
when the battery is connected to 60 ohm
E = 0.50 *(60 + r ) -----(2)
now, from equation 1 and 2 ,
0.65 *(20 + r) = 0.50 *(60 + r )
solving for r
r = 113.33 Ohm
putting in 1
E = 86.7 V
the emf of the battery is 87 V
b) internal resistance is 110 Ohm
