Religious affiliation does play a role in the use of hospital services depending on the affiliated religion, as end of life and reproductive health treatments may be prohibited within the institution. For example, a Christian hospital may not perform abortions or be authorized to prescribe contraceptives. “Patients cared for in a religious hospital or practice who seek time-sensitive but restricted interventions—such as emergency contraception—may face delays as their physicians transfer or refer them to nonreligious institutions.” (Stulberg, 2010, p.5).
Explanation / Answer
According to me, I agree that religious affiliation does play a role in the use of hospital services depending on the affiliated religion as it not only delays the treatment sometimes they have to make life and death choice depending on the religious beliefs for example a simple blood transfusion will not only save a life but also improve the quality life of a patient but due to a religious beliefs they refuse blood transfusion.
