Drosophila examinogaster can be either awesome or pathetic and either dull or bright. A geneticist performs the following crosses between single pairs of flies and observes the following classes of progeny:

Parent 1 - awesome, bright
Parent 2 - awesome, bright

progeny - 32 awesome, bright females
- 10 awesome, dull females
- 17 awesome, bright males
- 6 awesome, dull males
- 14 pathetic, bright males
- 6 pathetic, dull males

The dominant alleles have to be awesome and bright. Both parent have to be heterogeneous for the awesome trait as well as the bright trait. That way the offspring that got the pathetic and dull genes were given to them because from each of the heterogeneous alleles from the parents.
