Explanation / Answer

As a MA you should proceed to collect birth control history by using following questions

1) Are you planning to have any or more children

If yes- how many children will you have, how long will you like to wait. What contraceptive methods you will use to maintain proper age gap between two children.

If No- what kind of contraceptive methods you are using, what method is convinient to use, how much can you afford, are you planning for any children in future or you need permanent birth control measure?

According to patients age

From menarche to 35 the most commonly used methods are condoms and oral pills as these methods are easy and reversible

After 35 generally pregnancy is not needed so most patients go for female sterilization, some may adopt male sterilization

After 50 generally contraceptive methods are not needed but they may use natural methods.

Economic status

Pills, IUD's and diaphragms are generally more expensive as they require medical supervision

While condoms are the cheapest

Natural method don't require any cost

Sterilization is costly but is only one time investment.
