Diversity means a range of different things. The different dimensions are race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, age, physical abilities, religious beliefs, political beliefs and ideologies.
The demographics have a great impact on the healthcare. It is because of many people moving from countries to countries. Some population group may have socioeconomic concerns like lack of insurance, less access to health care services. In some cultures the female patient would not be liked to be examined by the male physicians. In some cultures they use complementary and alternative treatment to cure diseases which can sometimes cause harmful consequences. There are many religious beliefs followed in some groups like the Buddhists will need non-pharmacological pain management.
By planning and organising and training the healthcare professionals to meet the needs of aging, ethnically diverse population will result in better quality care for all individuals.
