Question

Someone is standing 0.50 meters in front of a spherical mirror, and sees his image upright and magnified 2 times bigger than he is.
A) what is the image location and is it real or virtual? How far is the image fri. The mirror?
B) what is the radius of curvature of the mirror?
C) is the mirror concave or convex? Someone is standing 0.50 meters in front of a spherical mirror, and sees his image upright and magnified 2 times bigger than he is.

Explanation / Answer

object distance = 0.5 m

magnification m = v/u = 2

so v = 2u

where v is image distance

so

v = 2 * 0.5 = 1 m is the location of the image

this must be a real image

its location isto right of mirror

------------------

use 1/f = 2/R

so R = 2f

also focal lengrh = 1/u + 1/.v

f = uv/(u+v)

f =   0.5*1/(1.5)

f = 0.34 m

so

R = 2* 0.34 = 0.68 m

-----------------------------------

this is a concave mirror
