Question
PLEASE HELP ME ON PHYSICS
1) Three point charges of -200 MuC, +4.00 MuC, and +6.00 MuC are placed along the x-axis as shown In the figure. What is the electrical potential at point P (relative to infinity) due to these charges? 2) Two point charges of +10 MuC and -6.0 MuC are located on the axis at x = -1.0 an and x = +2.0 cm respectively. Where should a third charge of +3.0MuC be placed on the +x-axis so that the potential at the origin is equal to zero? 3)A sphere with radius 2 0 mm carries +1.0 MuC of charge distributed uniformly throughout its volume What is the potential difference, vB - vA, between point B, which is 4.0 m from the center of the sphere, and point A, which is 9.0 m from the center of the sphere?Explanation / Answer
electric potnetial due to each charge is V = KQ/r
where k is 9e9
Q is charge
r is its location
so V1 due to 2uC is V1 = 9e9 * 2e-6/(1.414 *0.2)
V1 = 6.36 e 4 V
V2 due to 6uC is V2 = 9e9 * 6 e-6/(1.414 * 0.2)
V2 = 0.1909 e 4
V due to thse two is (sqrt(V1^2 + V2^2+ 2V1V2 cos theta)
here angle betweem V1 and V2 is tan theta = V2/V1 = 6.36/ 0.1909
theta = 88.28 deg
so V' due to V1 and V2 is
V'^2 = V1^2 + V2^2 + 2 V1 V2 cos theta
V'^2 =(6.36^2) +(0.1909)^2 +(2* 6.26 * 0.1909* cos 88.28)
V' = 6.36 k V
V3 due to 4uC is V3 = 160 kV
so
Vnet = +154 kV , option A it is
