What phenomenon accounts for the bending of the light moving from air to glass and then again from glass to air? A water droplet can be used as a magnifier. Discuss your ideas as to why the water droplet can act like a lens.

Thin Lens equation is given by -
(1/do) + (1/di) = 1/f


Where,
do = Object Distance,
di = Object Image,
f = Focal Length

Lens Maker Formula is Given by -
1/f =(n1 )[1 / R1 - 1/ R2 + (n1) *d / n*R1*R2]

Where,
f = Focal Length,
n = Index of refraction,
R1, R2 = radii of curvature of the two sides of the lens

Approximation for Thin Lenses -

The above equation can be greatly simplified if the lens thickness d is very small compared to R1 and R2. In that case, the thin lens approximation can then be made and the lensmaker's equation can be approximated as

1/f = (n - 1) * (1/R1 - 1/R2)
Where 1/f = (1/do) + (1/di)
