speed of the car = v

initial momentum = mv

final momentum = m(v1 + v2)

by conservation of momentum

mv = m(v1 + v2)

v = (v1 + v2)

so after collision both the cars will continue to move in same direction as the first car but its velocity will be reduced, and another car's velocity will be increased by the same amount.
