Question
NEED HELP BY TONIGHT PLEASE!!!
Please help me, I am deeply confused in this class and trying so hard to understand. Please give detailed answers. I know some of these might be confusing but your help will really help me learn. The teacher requires very very detailed answers and he gives nearly no (and I mean literally nearly zero) partial credit so I'm dying here. Thank you sooooooo much, you have no idea.
Also, I am nearly leaglly blind and I am dyslexic so if you could please write clear it would help so much. I just want to learn like everyone else. SUPER SUPER THANK YOU
Anabolic processes are also known as biosynthetic processes because they involve building larger biomolecules from smaller ones. [6 pts] 5. a. Often these anabolic processes are linked to catabolic ones where biomolecules are being broken down. What is an example of this linkage? Describe a regulatory mechanism for the example you give. [2 pts] b. Gluconeogenesis and the light-independent reaction are both anabolic processes that create glucose. Which process requires more energy and why? [2 pts]Explanation / Answer
5.
a. The light dependent reaction of photosynthesis is a good example where photolysis of water takes place but in due course ATP is synthesised.
There are various regulatory mechanisms of the light reaction of photosynthesis. One of them is availability of light, availability of water etc.
b. The independent reaction requires more energy (9 ATP, 6 NADPH2) in comparison to the gluconeogenesis (2ATP, 2 GTP and 2 NADH2) because the raw materials of light independent reaction is one carbon CO2. But the raw materials of gluconeogenesis is three carbon pyruvate. So, it is obvious that three carbon pyruvate is easily transformed to glucose by using less energy than the light independent reaction which can fix 6 CO2 molecules into glucose.
c. The light is essential for light dependent phase of photosynthesis. In this phase by using the light energy chlorophylls are activated by donating their elections into electron transport chain. These high energy electrons are used to produce ATP from Apple. Activated chlorophylls break water molecules into H+ and OH- ions. These H+ ions are used to produce NADPH2. Both the ATP and the NADPH2 act as the energy source for light independent phase of photosynthesis. For this reason light is necessary to regulate the light independent reaction.
