Darth Maul (landspeeder A) applied his brakes 14 m before he skidded into Obi-Wan's brand new landspeeder B. After the collision, landspeeder A slid 14 m while landspeeder B slid 30 m. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the landspeeder and the sands of Tatooine was measured to be 0.70. (Don't worry ... Tatooine has the same acceleration due to gravity as Earth!)
Show that Darth Maul was exceeding the posted 55 mi/h speed limit before applying the brakes by calculating the speed of his landspeeder A before the brakes were applied. What was his speed? mi/h
Note: You can assume the collision to be instantaneous. This will allow you to still use conservation of momentum, if that would be helpful. :)
With this type of problem, what I really need help with is the set up and the process. If someone could also show me a series of pictures of the relevent events of the problem, too, that would be extremelyhelpful since I am more of a visual learner and none were provided with the problem.
