How did the metabolic rates of the three rats in Experiment 1 differ? Why did they differ? RESPONSEExplanation / Answer
1) In the experiment 1, the metabolic rate of the normal rats are higher than the other two groups of eats (Tx and Hypox). Thyroid hormones are necessary for maintaining normal basal metabolic rate. Therefore, in the decreased levels of thyroid hormones, the basal metabolic rats will be lower and hence the rats in groups Tx and Hypox have lower metabolic rate.
