On September 6, an 8-year-old boy experienced a mild fever and fatigue. On September 7th, his symptoms continued and he also began having chills and muscle aches. On September gth, his hand had swollen to twice its normal size. On September 3', the boy had been scratched and bitten by a cat. The bite on the boy's hand had large amounts of pus extruding from the wound. His parents took him to the hospital where the doctors drained the pus from the wound and gave the boy antibiotics.
