looking for help on this physics problem

Week 5 The owner of Funland amusement park wants you to evaluate a new ride for the park. A car drives around a track at a constant speed of 100 mph (44.7 m/s). The track needs to fit in an area that is 50 m wide by 2000 m long. Based on medical studies, people experience discomfort when they experience a sudden sideways acceleration of 0.75 g. Whiplash can result if your head is not secured when a sudden acceleration reaches 1.5 g. People start to black out at about 5 g. What is your advice for Funland?

Explanation / Answer

Centripetal acc. for circular motion :

a_c = v^2 / r

for 0.75g = 44.7^2 / r

r = (44.7^2) / (0.75 x 9.81) = 271.57 m

for a_c = 1.5g ,

r = 44.7^2 / (1.5 x 9.81) = 135.79 m

for a_c = 5g ,

r = 44.7^2 / (5 x 9.81) =40.74 m

but for 50m width, r_maximum can be 25 m .

So advice will be not to build.
