a) when the switch is open ,

as the current through A , B and D is same , and no current is flowing in C

bulbs A , B , D are equally bright while C is not glowing

b)

after closing the switch

as the resistance in the circuit decreases

the current in the circuit will increase and brightness of bulb D will increase

c)

initially there was no current in the bulb C , after closing the switch , circuit completes

and bulb C starts glowing
