Question
A pulley and string arrangement is used to connect two objects A and B as shown in the diagram below. Here, mA = 5.00 kg and mB = 6.55 kg. The string connecting the two objects is of negligible mass and the pulley is frictionless. The objects start from rest and move with constant acceleration.
(a) What is the magnitude of the acceleration of each of the objects?
1.32 m/s2
(b) What is the magnitude of the tension in the string?
55.6 N
(c) Through what distance will the two objects move in the first second of motion?
Can you help me out with C? I got the answers for a ad b but I can't seem to get c. Thanks
Explanation / Answer
The distance covered by two objects is,
s=1/2 at^2
=1/2(1.32 m/s2) (1 s)2
= 0.66 m
I considered first second motion, so i took 1 s for t. if the time itnerval is 3 s, then the distance is 5.94 m
