Question
A.) What is the relationship between the total voltage of several cells connected in series and the voltage of each cell?
B.) What is teh relationship between the total voltage of several cells connected in parallel and teh voltage of each cell?
C.) What is the advantage of connecting cells in parallel if it does not increase the voltage?
D.) What value in Ampres is the smallest scale divison on your ammeter? How close can you estimate.
E.) What valuse in volts is the smallest scale divison on your voltmeter? How close can you estimate?
Explanation / Answer
A) if the voltage of a single cell is V ,
for n cells in series the voltage will be nV
so, Vtotal = nV cell
b) when connected in parallel cell of equal emf the total emf is equal to the voltage of single cell
so, Vtotal= V cell
C) When connecting batteries of the same voltage and ampere hour rating together in parallel, the amp hour ratings of the batteries are added together, and the voltage across them stays the same as an individual battery.
D.) look for least count of the ammeter , it it has maximum current upto 2 ampere with 100 divisions ,
then minimum value it can mesure = 2/100 A = 0.02 A
E.) look for least count of the voltmeter , it it has maximum voltage upto 12 volts with 1000 divisions ,
then minimum value it can mesure = 12/1000 = 0.012 = 12 millivolts
