Express your answer using two significant figures A 0.15 g honeybee acquires a charge of 24 pC while flying The electric field near the surface of the earth is typically 100 N/C, directed downward Fe/W = Submit My Answers Give Up Incorrect; Try Again; 4 attempts remaining Part B What electric field strength would allow the bee to hang suspended in the air? Express your answer using two significant figures. 0? N/C Submit My Answers Give Up 11:26 PM 9/14/2015Explanation / Answer
A)
Eectric force on the bee, Fe = q*E
= 24*10^-12*100
= 2.4*10^-9 N
wight of the bee, W = m*g
= 0.15*10^-3*9.8
= 1.47*10^-3 N
so, Fe/W = 2.4*10^-9/(1.47*10^-3)
= 1.63*10^-6 <<<<<<------------Answer
B)
when, Fe = W, be will be uquilibrium
q*E = m*g
==>E = m*g/q
= 0.15*10^-3*9.8/(24*10^-12)
= 6.125*10^7 N/c <<<<<<------------Answer
