Explanation / Answer

Note: This response is in UK English, please paste the response to MS Word and you should be able to spot discrepancies easily. Also, I have chosen the perspective of prejudice and discrimination in voting behaviour. I did this because I have noticed that your teacher wants recent sources. Considering this, it would be easy for you to analyse the recent Alabama elections and other contemporary elections to build a good case. Also, this response is an objective one and not intended to hurt political sentiments.

(Answer) Abstract: Prejudice and discrimination have been traversed through human civilizations for centuries now. Sometimes it has had mild effects and at other times, it has cost people their lives.

If a king or imperial ruler was ever prejudiced, it would usually reflect in his rule. However, with the rise of democracy and the people’s government, this issue has taken a different turn. Would an individual be willing to vote objectively based on the ethical and legislative principals of the candidate?

According to the Washington Post, 68% of the votes that Roy Moore received was from the white voter.

The recent elections in Alabama have witnessed ‘Democrat’ winning the election for the first time in 25 years. Although Alabama is a pro-Republican state, it was witnessed that the populace was willing to place their party above the nation when many decided to openly support an alleged paedophile. We observe in this instance that, there are voters who are willing to have their prejudice and discrimination be pervasive by allowing it to have far-reaching effects. The hypothesis of this paper suggests that individuals possess a certain racial and communal bias when they decide who to vote for.
