Many people compete in car racing that allows them to modify their cars suspension to improve handling. Lowering your car lowers its center of gravity which decreases "weight transfer" and it may also lower your cars "roll center" and change other aspects of your cars suspension geometry in ways that help handling. But sometimes these changes hurt. Lowering the car makes it more susceptible to bottoming out. This pounding can cause damage to your cars suspension and chassis if it is excessive. If you lowered the suspension on your car and it bottomed out, how could you prevent it from happening, without raising the suspension, and how would the adjustment change the ride?

Explanation / Answer

To prevent car from bottoming out after lowering the suspension, the springs should be having higher spring constant (stiff) . This means if you plan to lower your car to the distance which is equal to half the wheel then, we have to double the spring constant of the spring.
