Question

For a convex mirror

Please show work so I may understand

A) the image is always virtual. B) the radius of curvature is always negative. C) the image is always upright. D) All are correct. For a convex mirror A) the image is always virtual. B) the radius of curvature is always negative. C) the image is always upright. D) All are correct. Two converging lenses, the first with focal length 25 cm and the second with focal length 20 cm, are separated by 30 cm. A 4.0 cm tall object is placed 50 cm in front of the first lens. Where is the final image? 20 cm after the second lens 20 cm before the second lens 10 cm after the second lens 10 cm before the second lens 50 cm after the second lens

Explanation / Answer

1) B) the radius of curvature is always negative.

2)

Ans : 10 cm after second lense

u1 = 50 cm (object distance)

let v1 is the image distance for the first lense.

we know,

1/u1 + 1/v1 = 1/f1

1v1 = 1/f1 - 1/u1

1/v1 = 1/25 - 1/50

v1 = 50 cm

u2 = L - 50 (object disatnce for the second lense)

u2 = 30-50

= -20 cm (negative signindicates object is virtual)

1/u2 + 1/v2 = 1/f2

1v2 = 1/f2 - 1/u2

1/v2 = 1/20 + 1/20

v2 = 10 cm (from second lense)
